The 1st International Workshop on
Spatial/Temporal Information Extraction from Unstructured Texts
(WSTIE 2016)

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The 1st International Workshop on Spatial/Temporal Information Extraction from Unstructured Texts (WSTIE 2016)
January 18, 2016, Hong Kong, China

In conjunction with the 3rd International Conference on Big Data and Smart Computing (BigComp) 2016

Purpose and Scope

As the number of unstructured documents grows exponentially, it becomes important to develop methods for automatically extracting information from the documents. Especially, the documents usually have temporal information (e.g., today, June 2000) and spatial information (e.g., south from here, Hongkong), so it is necessary to develop the methods for extracting such useful information from the texts. The spatial/temporal information can be used for various applications, such as Question-Answering (QA) systems, Knowledge-Base (KB) construction, and Recommendation systems.

This workshop aims to create opportunities to discuss about the state-of-the-art studies, and to share on-going works. We hope that this will enhance collaboration among the researchers related to spatial/temporal information extraction, and foster a new chance for the discussion about not only the state-of-the-art studies, but also some language-specific issues.

We invite submissions on topics that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Temporal information extraction
  • Spatial information extraction
  • Language resources and representation scheme for spatial/temporal information

AUTHOR INSTURCTION

Camera-Ready Paper & Copyright Instructions

The deadline for uploading the camera-ready version of your paper is December 13, 2015. You should format your final manuscript into 3~4 pages, and also prepare the copyright form with your own signature.

The submission of the camera-ready paper and signed copyright form can be done as follows.

  1. Prepare the final manuscript in a PDF format (e.g., Final.pdf). Do not forget to include author names, affiliations, and acknowledgments.
  2. Update the final manuscript in the easychair submission system (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wstie2016) to replace the original manuscript. You can find the 'update file' button in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Download and print the copyright form from the link http://www.ieee.org/publications_standards/publications/rights/copyrightmain.html
  4. Write the title, all authors, and one author's signature, then convert the scanned copy into a PDF file and send to the Workshop chair Young-Seob Jeong (pinode@kaist.ac.kr) by email.

Conference Registration

Please note that all papers must be presented at the workshop to appear in the proceedings, and at least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference by December 14, 2015.
